about:

pre/post is a collaborative project lead by Edmonton’s Mat Halton. Roughly defined, it is pop rock with an urban vibe - strong melodies are set over electronic and acoustic rhythms. Programming/keys/beats is provided by brother Jonathan Halton, and bass by Ryan Miller.

Thematically, pre/post is about advocacy for youth. As a Child and Youth Care worker, Mat’s music is a platform to tell of their strength and resilience; pre/post’s urban feel is a shout-out to the teens that have changed his life...

In addition to the music, Mat Halton has created 'The Pre/Post Project', which fuses music and storytelling in a dynamic presentation that introduces audiences to the lives of marginalized urban youth. The Pre/Post project endeavors to initiate dialogue around themes of belonging, cultural isolation, power and control, loss, and resiliency.
